Interested in Fall Camping?

Framingham Girl Scouts and Encampment Director Helena is considering coordinating an encampment in September, but she will need to know interest first.
Leaders, please e-mail her directly at later than May 1 if your troop is interested with the following:
troop #, leader name, level of girls, number of girls, and does your troop have a troop camper.

Dates Framingham Scouts are looking at are: Sept. 11-12-13 or Sept. 25-26-27
Note: The Jewish holiday does not begin until sundown on the 27th

April Leader Meeting Minutes

All leader meetings this year to be held the first Tuesday of the month at the Plymouth Church.
Next meeting, May 5. Agenda:
Spring Registration, End of Year Forms, Bridging June 14, Service Unit positions discussed, new Girl Scout books reviewed

Introductions/Attendance: 10 in attendance

Cookies: questions/concerns to Helena. Incentives expected late April. All troops should have paid by now

Bridging: Town wide event to be held on Sunday, June 15 from 3-6 pm at St Bridget School Hall.
Troops planning to attend include = 2107 Daisy, 2172 Brownie, 2078 Brownie, 2125 Cadette, and possibly 2168 Junior, a separate e-mail will be sent to those troops interested with more specifics including cost. If your troop would like to participate you must e-mail Mary Ann at masager5@... no later than May 1st

End of Year Adult Recognitions: Please e-mail Paula at pbracket@... with requests for: numeral guards (these are the number pins for years as a Girl Scout i.e. 5 year pin), Outstanding Leader, Outstanding Volunteer, etc.

Spring Registration Packets: We expect these will be available at the next leader meeting, watch for update from Deb. FYI: the registration fee for next year has been increased to $12 per person (it has been many years since fees were last raised)

Girl Scout Cruise on the Spirit of Boston On Sunday, June 7th

Treat your Troop to a festive afternoon cruising in Boston Harbor aboard the Spirit of Boston's Girl Scout Cruise on Sunday, June 7.
Boarding starts at 11:30 a.m. The two-hour cruise starts at noon.
With a tasty Girl Scout menu, unlimited juice and soda, a DJ for dancing and amazing views of the harbor, a Troop outing has never been so much fun, according to the Spirit of Boston Web site.
The cost is $25.90 per Scout, leader, and or chaperone.

Girl Scout Registration Increasing to $12

At the National Council Session last fall, the Girl Scout delegation approved a change in GSUSA's annual membership fee, to $12, starting in the 2009-2010 membership year.
Membership renewals this spring and in the fall will be at the new rate not at $10.
GSUSA says the last increase was in Oct 2003, and over the last 40 years, there have been increases approximately every 6 years.
The entire membership fee goes to GSUSA in New York, to help them pay for program and resource development, research and outreach initiatives, technology and insurance for members.

Puzzlers Junior Badge Workshop Offered at Camp Virginia in Bolton

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts is offering Puzzlers: a Junior Badge Workshop on Thursday, May 7 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Camp Virginia in Bolton.
Event description: Mazes, crosswords, math tricks and magic -- all of these involve working with puzzles. Test your brain power by solving or creating these unique puzzles. Registration price includes badge.
The event is for Junior and Juliette level Scouts in grades 4, 5, & 6.
The badge program takes place at Camp Virginia, in Bolton.
The cost is $9 per Scout. Leaders and adult chaperones are free.

Brownie Butterfly Workshop Offered by GSEM on Sunday, May 3

WORKSHOP IS FULL AS OF APRIL 15***
Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts is offering a Brownie Try-It Workshop called Bountiful Butterflies on Sunday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to noon in Westford.
Program information: Come and learn about butterflies! See them flying all around you, learn about their life cycle and what they eat, how they are cared for and what you should do if you find one. You will work towards the Animals Try-It. Brownies who attend this workshop can complete the Try-It by playing Sound Charades with your troop or with their family.
The workshop is for Brownies in grades 2 & 3 and Juliette Scouts at this age level.
The workshop will be held at the The Butterfly Place, 120 Tyngsboro Rd, in Westford from 10 a.m. to noon.
The cost is $9 per Brownie. There is a fee for leaders & adult chaperones - $6.

Get Up, Stand Up GSEM Cadette Program on May 5 in Westford

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts is offering a Get Up, Stand Up opportunity for Cadette Scouts on May 5 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in Westford.
This is a terrific opportunity for girls to form a community service group that is dedicated to people, animals, and the environment.
The group will work on the Roots & Shoots IP and organize their own service project!
Girls are encouraged to attend any or all sessions.
The program is for Cadette and Juliette Scouts in grades 6, 7, & 8.
The program will be held at the Westford Public Library, 50 Main St., in Westford.
The cost is $5 per Scout. Leaders and adult chaperones are free.

Council Offers Wide World of Girl Scouts on May 2 for Junior Level

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts is offering a Wide World of Girl Scouting program for Junior Scouts on Saturday, May 2 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Camp Cedar Hill in Waltham.
Program description:
Learn about your sister Girl Scouts and Girl Guides around the globe. Try games and activities enjoyed by girls around the world.
The program is for Juliette & Junior level scouts in grades 4, 5, & 6.
Camp Cedar Hill is located at 265 Beaver St., in Waltham.
The cost is $7 per Junior Scout. Leaders and adult chaperones are free.

Junior Patch Workshop on Friday night, May 1 in Boston

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts Council is offering a Win Win Patch Program for Junior Scouts on Friday, May 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Boston.
The program is open to Junior Scouts in grades 4 & 5.
Patch program description: The ability to negotiate is a valuable and rewarding skill. Diplomats negotiate. Friends negotiate. Family members negotiate. The most successful negotiations result in favorable outcomes for all involved. Develop negotiation tools so you can work with others to make the world a better place.
The workshop will be held at Boston Teacher's Union Hall, 180 Mt Vernon St., in Boston from 5 to 7 p.m.
The cost is $7 per Junior scout. Leaders and adult chaperones are free.
